When in Doubt, Sound It Out!

At the end of our Ancient Rome unit, I gave Ethan a little quiz.  Some of the answers he knew right away, but some things he had to look up (which I thought was just fine for a 1st grader ;-).  For question three, he remembered the word, but didn't know how to spell it, so I told him to do his best.  This is what he came up with:
