On March 1 we dedicated Verity to the Lord. It was a opportunity to go before the church and ask them to hold us accountable in bringing up Verity in a godly manner. We were asked to provide a verse and a vision for her. The verse we chose for her was Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” It was chosen because her name means ‘Truth’. Our desired vision for her life is that she comes to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior and has a deep understanding of the Truth that will affect her heart and translate into godly living. “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” 3 John 4
We do appreciate our church and the leadership of it. I want to be like all of them! We ran into our teaching pastor last Saturday at a BBQ place (we’re in the South…that means pulled pork, not grilled chicken). He was going from soccer game to soccer game with his kids. But he was excited to be spending time with the other parents. Several had recently come to know Christ, and he was thrilled to be encouraging them. We’ve been studying our calling as Christians lately at church (God’s people making disciples to glorify God). It’s great to see our pastor living it out.

What a neat opportunity, Jim & Amber! What a great vision too - we pray all your 3 little ones come to know Jesus well and follow Him! :) And what a great photo for Verity to see later in life - about how her big brother was praying for her in such a concentrated way! how cute... and grown up!

I loved reading about the dedication and the verse you chose. It will be so neat for Verity to know how much thought and prayer was behind her name and what you hope for her life as she grows older. Thanks for the announcement too - I can't believe you actually got her to smile! She really is adorable :) Are the boys adjusting well to having a sister? From stories I heard tonight, Jacob is learning that little sisters are cute but they can be tough too...especially when they want something enough to wrestle you for it! And all that was over a yellow block...no tears though. They could be quite the team as they grow up!
Congrats Verity! We love you all! Can't wait to see my niece, hopefully soon!
