On of my favorite parts about homeschooling is the field trips. Granted, ours generally occur on Saturday so we can go together. Ethan's been learning about medieval times in school, so we took the opportunity to go to a Renaissance Festival up near Charlotte. We actually met a friend there from our shepherding group, Jennifer, and her kids. The fair was quite impressive. There were shows going all of the time. We enjoyed a fun juggling show by a trio called London Broil:
Then it was on to jousting! Neither Amber nor the kids had ever seen jousting before, so it was exciting to see it and be part of the show.
We also took in a great falconry show. It was fun to see the birds and learn about what they do. There were a peregrine falcon, a barn owl, a snowy owl, and a vulture. The vulture was fascinating. Fun factoid: it has the most sanitary poop of any animal. It's body is able to digest and use most of the nastiness it eats! God's creation is amazing!
We stopped and enjoyed a glass blowing demonstration, and then it was time to head home. We grabbed some dinner during the trip and returned home happy. It was a great day learning and enjoying the shows!
