This year is our 10th anniversary. But, with the baby coming, we didn't think we'd be able to get away for a vacation. So, we decided to start taking time before the baby came. We took a vacation to Knoxville, Tennessee. It was a pretty random choice, but it had some fun things for us to do there.
Our first stop was the visitors center for the Bush's Baked Beans factory. ...and it was definitely a highlight of the trip!!! It started with a movie to learn about the plant and how it operates. It was very informative and fun.
Everything was up-to-date and well designed. (One of Jim's big complaints about Epcot is that everything's become very dated.) Anyway, this was great!
There was a great machine the kids could operate the shows the path of the bean through the plant.
And we finished off our tour with a slice of pinto bean pie! Sounds a little gross, but it was essentially pecan pie made with pinto beans in the filling and a LOT of sugar.
Before going to the hotel, we stopped at the University of Tennessee to see a museum on campus. The museum was okay, and the campus is nothing compared to Penn State!
It was then on to the hotel to rest and great ready for the next day! The hotel actually had a small indoor waterpark for the kids to enjoy. Verity ended up loving the slide, even though the water was freezing, Daddy repeatedly took her down it. Ethan loved the big bucket of water that doused you. Micah was not so keen on the water park and preferred the pool. I didn't mind at all as the pool was as warm as bath water :-). The kids had a blast! They love hotels.
