Friday night we had the opportunity to see the Greenville Symphony. We'd never seen them before either! We were apparently slacking off when we lived here before, so we're making up for lost time! Again it was an outdoor concert, so we sat out in the field and really enjoyed the evening. Both concerts had the 1812 Overture with cannons, so that was pretty cool. This concert ended with fireworks, though! Ethan watched them with his hands over his ears. Micah actually fell asleep during them! Amazing.
Sunday we had the opportunity to hear Jim DeMint, one of South Carolina's U.S. Senators, speak at church about the obstacles he's facing in Congress and just how God is using him there. Our pastor then spoke out of 1 Peter 2 on a healthy tension between being thankful for the land God has put you in and remembering that our citizenship is not in this world. It was a good way to view the balance needed between the two.

What GREAT fireworks pictures guys!! Wow! - We too love the times we get to have sitting on lawns and listening to music. And Patriotic Music is the BEST for this occasion! It sounds like you had great weather and also a wonderful time reflecting on our freedom here in this world and also our future hope :). That's so exciting to hear about! Thanks for the pictures and sharing the details. :)
I love the fireworks pictures! It's been a few years since we've seen any. Those concerts sound like fun too! How neat that you ran into your old friends - that must have been sweet. It's so good to see new pictures of Ethan and Micah (your nephew is a cutie there too!). Miss you guys already ;-) - Linda
Looks and sounds like you guys had a wonderful Independence Day! The boys look so cute in their matching outfits. And those firework pix are great!
