Baseball's Over

As the spring ended, so did baseball.  It really was a great season.  We loved the coaches that Ethan had, he learned a lot, and his skills grew rapidly.  By far the biggest bummer of the season was the name of his team...the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.  Here's a picture of his first hit.  I did like that even though it was T-ball, the coaches still gave each kid 3 pitches to try and hit before using the tee.  The also were very particular in enforcing outs and runs.  They wanted kids to know that if they got out, they didn't get to stay on the base.  Other teams didn't enforce this.  I appreciated them teaching that you don't always get to go on base!  Anyway, here's Ethan getting his first hit!

Here are the teams praying before the game.  I don't remember doing this when I was a kid up in New York!  There are some nice things about living in the Bible belt (we've heard Greenville referred to as the buckle!).

It turned out to be a little too early for doing Wee-ball with Micah.  He loved running around the bases, and he loved playing in the dirt, but other than that, we were pretty much forcing it.  So, we decided to pull him out rather than develop a dislike for the game.  We'll see where we go with it next year. 

Verity also took some time to develop her skills while the boys were on the ball field.  Chain-link fence climbing was one particular activity that took some serious effort to work on!

It was a fun season, and we're looking forward to next year!!
